Allen Circuit Veteran’s Court

Serving Those Who Served Us

The Allen Circuit Veteran’s Court is a certified Problem-Solving Court, certified on March 20, 2015, by the Indiana Office of Court Services (formerly the Indiana Judicial Center). It is operated by Allen County Community Corrections in collaboration with Allen County Adult Probation. A re-certification was granted to the Allen Circuit Veteran’s Court in July, 2024 for an additional three (3) years. The Honorable Ashley N. Hand serves as supervising Judge who is responsible for daily operations. The Allen County Circuit Veteran’s Court is a judicially-supervised court docket that reduces correctional costs, protects community safety, and improves public welfare.

Veterans Treatment Courts combine rigorous treatment and accountability for veterans facing incarceration due to charges stemming from substance abuse and/or mental health issues. The program expedites access to veteran-specific resources, including benefits and treatments earned through military service, by involving the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs health care networks, the Veterans Benefits Administration, State Departments of Veterans Affairs, volunteer veteran mentors and veterans family support organizations. In 2016-2017, the Veteran’s Court began the development of a Veteran’s Court Mentor program aiming to provide program participants with pro-social communicants who understand the veteran experience and culture.
